Joel Griffin is DSU’s Coordinator of Public Relations. He has an extensive background in sales, marketing, and strategic planning.
Joel graduated from BYU and, as a student, he worked as a manager of several traveling sales teams for Living Scriptures Inc. While studying PR, he consulted for local and national nonprofits, including the global #GivingTuesday movement. Joel also worked as an intern for Overstock.com’s PR team in 2014.
Joel started at DSU as the Coordinator of Clubs and Service. During his time with DSUSA, he oversaw the launch of the university’s first alternative break program and increased DSU club community engagement hours in a semester by 358 percent.
In his current position, Joel works to create and distribute press releases, articles, and other university material. He works as a writer and editor of the Dixie State University magazine and other publications. Joel worked in close connection with the identity committee and Dr. Jordon Sharp to rebrand DSU’s current athletic identity, and consulted on the name of the mascot and creation of the Trailblazers branding and logos.
Joel hails from Cottonwood Heights, Utah and he and his wife, Katherine, have a baby daughter, named Adelaide.
Joel is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and drummer and has been a judge for several community talent competitions, including Dixie’s Got Talent. His favorite desert is cheesecake, and his biggest pet peeve is when people abbreviate phrases that could be said just as quickly unabbreviated.
